History
Altruism is a World of Warcraft Alliance guild on the EU Aerie Peak server. Altruism was formed from a group of friends from various guilds such as Borderline, WRATH and Obsydian with a vast wealth of TBC raid experience. Back in TBC we have run the old ZA bear run successfully on many ocassions and some of our founding members have Vashj, Kael, Illidan and Archimonde kills to our credit.
Plans for the Future
We have cleared Naxx 10 and 25 gathering many achievements along the way, we have cleared Ulduar 10 and 25 with several hardmodes completed. We have cleared ToC 10 and 25 and also gained the Tribute to Insanity Chest in 10 Man TotGC and have 3/5 in TotGC 25. We are currently 4/4 in the first wing of ICC 10/25 and are ranked 5th for Allies and 9th overall on AP. So our plans for the future are simple, we plan to finish Ulduar hardmodes, TotGC 25 and go all the way through Icecrown and kill Arthas in both 10 and 25 man.
Our raids are scheduled for 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m server time on Sundays to Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays are primarily for running 10 man content, farming raid materials, playing alts and generally kicking back and enjoying each others company. May I state now even though we wish to kill Arthas 25 we are aiming for steady progress, but don't aim for world or server firsts.
Standards
- First and foremost, Altruism requires mature and respectful behavior from its members.
- Insults and offensive language are not tolerated. Profanity should be kept out of guild chat and to a minimum in general, especially around our younger guild members.
- We also do not tolerate begging in guild chat.
- We encourage members to collaborate and be helpful. The guild website is a great tool for getting to know one another, sharing information such as theorycrafting and class tips as well as seeking folks to help with quests and the like.
- Councillors also welcome feedback from guild members through personal messages or posts on the website. We do ask that website discussion be kept respectful and mature.
- We also ask that only Guild Councillors reply to applications on the Forums. We wish to keep our Forums respectful at all times, especially the public one. If you have any comments or advice to make on new applications please PM a Councillor via the Forums or contact them in game.
Altruism offers two main types of membership. Core Raiders are expected to understand and abide by the raid charter and our loot policies. Applicants to the guild who want to raid must fill out the Raider Application, which can be found on the left of this very page. Altruism's raiding needs (and how well the applicant can fill them) will be the paramount consideration in determining raiding membership. All applicants will be subject to a four-week evaluation period before being admitted (or not admitted) as full members.
Continued hard work with a desire to buff and enchant your gear correctly, show up at the instance on time and help the guild achieve it's goals in a professional manner and you will then become a member of the Raid team. All promotions, demotions and possible terminations of membership will be decided upon by your Class leader in conjunction with your Officers and GM.
Social memberships are available for people that have strong real-life connections to existing guild members (siblings, significant other, work colleagues and the like). Social applicants should contact the GM or an Officer for the possiblity of an invite into our family.
In summary, at Altruism, we consider ourselves an extraordinary place to play, have fun, and accomplish great things as part of a safe, respectful team.
